Italy’s Super Volcano Has Shown a Pattern of Increased Activity Since 2020
1 August, 2026: A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck the region. According to the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the epicenter was located just west of Naples in the Campi Flegrei volcanic caldera at a shallow depth of about 3 kilometers (approx. 2 miles).
The tremor is counted among the strongest seismic events recorded in the area in modern decades, echoing concerns from previous intense swarms. Four people sustained injuries, and panicked residents in neighborhoods across Pozzuoli and Naples rushed out into the streets. It caused power outages, minor building and church damage, and temporary suspensions of local train and metro services for safety inspections.
Campi Flegrei has been experiencing ongoing episodes of bradyseism (ground uplift) and intensifying seismic swarms. Volcanologists and local authorities are closely monitoring the continuous pressure changes in the hydrothermal and magmatic systems beneath the densely populated caldera, as repeated shallow shocks raise ongoing concerns about structural integrity and future unrest.
Could This Be The Preparation For the “Wrath of The Lamb”?
Then I saw him open the sixth seal. A violent earthquake occurred; the sun turned black like sackcloth made of hair; the entire moon became like blood; 13 the stars of heaven fell to the earth as a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a high wind; 14 the sky was split apart like a scroll being rolled up; and every mountain and island was moved from its place.
15 Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the generals, the rich, the powerful, and every slave and free person hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 And they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 because the great day of their wrath has come! And who is able to stand? ” – Revelation 6:12-17 CSB
This chilling passage for centuries was largely seen as symbolic, or a combination of symbology and actual events. But in light of recent world changes and the dramatic increase in serious earthquakes, and activity world-wide. Volcanoes are becoming more active and we have even see instances of long thought extinct volcanoes come back to life. Keep in mind, Campi Flegrei is not part of the Pacific Ring of Fire.
This passage in the book of Revelation can be accurately interpreted as an eruption of a Super Volcano like Campi Flegrei. Once we take into account that the Apostle John was having a vision: This is not something that was being told to him by someone else. John was seeing things happen through the lens of time, and doing his best to describe what he was seeing in ways he could, based on his own life experiences.
At first he sees a great earthquake that rocks the land. Shortly afterwards, the sun turns black as sackcloth. This is a completely normal phenomenon following the major eruption of a volcano. People observing Mt. St. Helens erupt in 1980 said the sun was completely blocked out in the sky. The day turned into night, because a thick, blanket of smoke filled the sky.
John then mentions that the moon turns red as blood. Again, a completely normal event following a volcano eruption. Aerosol gases are released from the volcano and are carried high into the upper atmosphere. These gases have an odd effect on white light: the smaller waves of light that normally produce blues, violent and some yellows are reflected while the lower, longer waves of light are allowed to pass. These longer waves appear as red and orange. So when the moon is seen in the sky, the moon will appear red as blood.
The next part is the most intriguing: John describes seeing “the stars of heaven fell to the earth as a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a high wind;”. Years ago, people would have thought surely John was speaking symbolically. After all, stars are many times larger than the earth, so there is no way they could fall to earth. But keep in mind, John is simply telling us what he is seeing. And John is seeing ‘lava bombs’. During an extremely violent eruption, volcanoes will emit these bombs flying through the air. They are burning red hot, like melted rocks being thrown high into the air and come falling back to earth. Can you imagine this in your mind?
These bombs, especially if seen during the evening would closely resemble stars falling to the ground. These glowing melted rocks streaking down to earth would look almost like stars falling to the ground, if you didn’t know what was going on by experience.
Lastly, John sees the skies ‘rolling up’ like a scroll. Again, if you’ve never seen this phenomenon. But when a volcano erupts, especially one as large as a super volcano, a tremendous amount of heat into the upper atmosphere. If there are clouds in the sky above the volcano, the clouds will literally be pushed back from the sky. You’ve probably seen this phenomenon for yourself if you’ve noticed what happens when a nuclear bomb is tested. The clouds above this detonation will be pushed back and out of the sky directly above the volcano.
Just How Many More Signs Do You Need?
There are signs happening on this earth that are so prolific, so obvious, that there is no excuse. Let me say that again; there is no excuse. No one, not one single person can say they didn’t have any idea that Jesus was coming back. In fact, the Bible tells us that in the last days there will be people who will scoff at the idea of the return of Christ:
Scoffers will come in the last days scoffing and following their own evil desires, 4 saying, “Where is his ‘coming’ that he promised? Ever since our ancestors fell asleep, all things continue as they have been since the beginning of creation.” – 2 Peter 3:3-4 CSB
And this, if nothing else, is the only sign we should need. Take a look at the world around you, and see how this world is behaving. See how exactly the world mirrors what the word of God says about the end times. This is the last of the last days. The Bible warns us that in this time in which we live, we would know that the time is near. We’re not guessing here! We’re not engaging in supposition; we are taking a look at what the Bible says, and we are witnessing what is going on in the world. Jesus says, “You will know when it is near, even at the door.” (Matthew 24:33)
