How The Universe Itself Was Designed

26 October 2026: If it wasn’t for the moon, there would be no life on earth. A recent article posted on MSN from Insane Curiosity had some pretty fascinating things to say. Earth can feel immovable and inevitable, but its habitability may rest on a set of astonishingly delicate circumstances.

One of the most important may be the Moon. According to the story, if Earth had never acquired its large natural satellite, the planet might spin much faster—perhaps completing a rotation in only a few hours. That change would not merely shorten our days. It would reshape the atmosphere, oceans, weather patterns, and perhaps the very possibility of complex life.

 The Moon looks, from this perspective, less like a decorative companion in the night sky and more like one of the many cosmic conditions that made advanced life possible. Its gravitational influence stabilizes Earth’s tilt, moderates its rotation, and helps produce the rhythms that life has grown around.

A faster-spinning Earth would likely be a harsher world. Stronger winds, more extreme day-night contrasts, and altered climate systems could make life far more difficult. The Moon’s presence may have helped create a planet not merely capable of supporting life in some abstract sense, but one stable enough for life to be complex, resilient, and conscious. In that way, the Moon becomes part of a larger pattern: the uncanny suitability of our environment for beings like us.

The Bigger Picture

But this is by far not the only strange fact involved with making earth inhabitable for mankind. There are a whole host of things that had to be exactly in tune for life to be possible on earth.

• The “Goldilocks Zone” – The orbit around the sun is just right. If it were 10% closer to the sun, 84 million miles instead of 93 million miles: This would cause a runaway greenhouse effect, similar to what happened on Venus. Likewise moving the earth 10% further away to about 102 million miles would move the earth outside of the habitable zone. Most of the earth’s water would permanently freeze, potentially causing a “Snowball Earth”.
• The Size of the Earth – Earth’s size is another “Goldilocks” parameter. If the earth were the size of Mars, for example, the earth would lose its atmosphere. It would gradually leak away, and without the pressures of the atmosphere, the water would also leak away. There would be no protection from solar radiation either. Likewise if the earth larger, this would create too much gravity. It would hold on to a massive, crushing gravity. Gasses like hydrogen and helium would no longer lift away in to the upper atmosphere, likely turning the earth into a gas giant.
• Carbon-based chemistry – Life depends on carbon because it forms stable, complex molecules. The fact that the laws of physics allow carbon chemistry is often seen as necessary for mankind to exist at all.
• The Sun – The sun is a main-sequence G-type star, meaning it spends most of its life steadily fusing hydrogen into helium. That matters because life needs a long, steady period of relatively consistent energy input. If a star varies too much, planets can get too cold, or two hot, or exposed to damaging flares and radiation.

This is only a few of the many, many instances of what is known as the Anthropic Principle. This is something that scientists have studied for years, pondering the many different aspects of the earth, gravity, physics. These many different things had to all come together in order for life to exist.

My first exposure to the Anthropic Principle was long ago, from Bible teacher Dr. Chuck Missler. Dr. Missler used the anthropic principle to forward his assertions that the Bible was supernatural in its origins, often comparing observations about the universe to Bible passages talking about the creation.

In the book of Romans, God directly challenges us to take a look, a careful study into the complexities of the world. In fact, God makes a very confrontational claim. That there are no such thing as atheists:

since what can be known about God is evident among them, because God has shown it to them. ²⁰ For his invisible attributes, that is, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what he has made. As a result, people are without excuse. – Romans 1:19-20 CSB

According to the Bible, we can see evidence of God through creation. I have spent a long time studying evolution, and the more someone knows about evolution, the more ridiculous it becomes. God says “people are without excuse.” God is saying that an honest look at the world around you is all you need to see when it comes to proof of God’s existence.

At one time, I often said, “It’s called faith for a reason,” when it comes to believing in God. However, as the time of the ends comes closer, we see incontrovertible evidence of God. As the universe’s mysteries continue to unravel, the evidence of God becomes plain to see.

The Bible’s Own Revelations

The Bible itself has taken on a unique principle of its own. No other book on earth, no other book in the history of the world has accomplished what the Bible has done. Number one, it has outlasted its critics. Even though skeptics still try to throw up a smoke screen of doubt, no serious study of the Bible can come away with any other conclusion than the Bible was written by people under the influence of some sort of supernatural entity.

That’s because the Bible does what no other book has done: Foretell the future with 100% accuracy. And this is not some Nostradamus type writings. These are plainly written prophetic glimpses into the future in such a way that even Bible scholars themselves had no idea how the Bible could so accurately predict the future. Before 1948, even the most ardent Bible prophecy enthusiasts struggled to believe the prophecy of Israel returning to their ancient homeland.

Especially after World War II, the European population of Jews were severely cut. No one except for a precious few still believed that the Jews would ever reclaim their homeland. But in 1948, that is exactly what happened. It not only happened, but happened in word-for-word accuracy:

⁸ Who has ever seen anything as strange as this?
Who ever heard of such a thing?
Has a nation ever been born in a single day?
Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment?
But by the time Jerusalem’s birth pains begin,
her children will be born. – Isaiah 66:8 NLT

On May 14, 1948 Israel declared its independence. The United States was the first to recognize Israel as a sovereign nation, on the very same day. The Soviet Union also recognized Israel a few days later. On May 15, 1948 Israel applied for membership to the United Nations. So the Bible came literally true on May 14th 1948. Estimates are that the book of Isaiah was written somewhere between 740 – 700 BC. Roughly 2,600 years after the book of Isaiah was written, it literally came to pass, right down to the very word!

Yes, there are people who try to complete dismiss this, throwing up smoke screens to try to discourage people from believing what their own eyes are telling them. But those people expose their own selves in the process. I’ve often said to avoid anyone who tries to tell you “this is what the Bible really means.” The Bible simply means what it says. It wasn’t mean to be hidden away in secret libraries, waiting for priests and scholars to read it and tell you what it means.

The Bible was written for you to read and understand for yourself. If someone tries to tell you it doesn’t actually mean what it says, those are the people the Bible calls deceivers. In fact, your job is to put me and people like me out of business. Reading the Bible for itself, and taking what it says at face value, would mean that no Bible teachers were needed. We only step in when people don’t read it for themselves. I will strongly encourage you to check out anything I’ve ever written with the writings of the Bible.

You can depend on what the Bible says! You can take that step of faith, to rely on what the Bible says. In fact, I strongly encourage you to do just that. Stop doubting what the Bible tells you and do something constructive instead: Start doubting what the world tells you! Instead of automatically doubting the Bible when some human tells you this or that, and doubt the speaker. After all, my friend, suspend your skepticism for just a minute and let me ask you one thing: Which one is more likely to tell you the truth? God, or Man?

Well the Bible says that God is not a man that he should lie. In fact there is something that few people realize, God is incapable of telling a lie. If he tried to tell a lie, the moment he spoke it, it would become the truth.

Man on the other hand, has a long history of lies. What’s more, man is capable of simply being wrong. At one time, people genuinely believed the earth was flat. It wasn’t that they thought they were lying, but they were simply wrong. Mankind has gotten a lot of things wrong and continue to do so. God, on the other hand, doesn’t lie and doesn’t get things wrong. So you can take a stand of faith on the Word of God, the Bible and put all your confidence in that word, and not be put to shame because of it.

Your Own Personal Evolution

While the creation of the world is not a product of evolution, you can have your own personal evolution. Right now, you are spiritually dead. Unless you have been reconciled to God through the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, your spirit is suffering from eternal separation from God. That means spiritually you are dead. And there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. No amount of ‘good deeds’, if there really is such a thing, no amount of penance, remorse or works will ever be good enough to save yourself.
That’s what makes all these false religions and false prophets are so dangerous. Because if you look closely enough, they all depend on your own efforts to save yourself. And I’m telling you right now, that is quite impossible. The good news is that God realized you were incapable of saving yourself, and sent his only begotten son, Jesus, to take your place.

Jesus came as a son of a virgin, born without the sin nature passed down from Adam. And then, he lived on this earth for over 30 years, and obeyed the law of Moses right down to the very letter. Because of that, he was unlike any other man on earth. He was sinless. But he gave up his life in order that the death of someone who didn’t deserve death was an acceptable sacrifice to God for those of us who have sinned.

And it’s quite simple you see, you can accept Jesus’ gift of salvation. You don’t have to work for it, because you can’t earn it. It is a free gift. If it was something you earned, then you could boast of your efforts. But because it is a gift, and not of works, that means that Jesus deserves the glory for your salvation. What could be easier? Just give up trying to work for and earn your own salvation, and take the gift Jesus offers.

Heaven belongs to God, it’s his habitation, and if you’re going to get there, you have to do it His way. So, why not stop fighting the inevitable, and stop trying to earn it. Instead humble yourself and just receive this free gift. All it takes is a little faith, and quality decision and a confession. Believe in Jesus as the Messiah, the Savior of the world, You don’t need a church, a preacher, or an altar. You don’t even need a long-winded, “repeat-after-me” prayer. Just pray this out loud, and make a decision to believe it:

Heavenly Father, I confess that Jesus is Lord. I believe you raised him from the dead on the third day, according to scripture. Please come into my life. In Jesus’ name I pray.

If you prayed that and sincerely meant it in your heart, you are saved. You now have nothing whatsoever to worry about, either in this world or the world to come. Jesus won’t forget you when he comes to rapture the Church. And be sure to mark the verse below in your Bible and refer to it as often as you need in order to assure yourself of your salvation. This is your receipt, your proof of purchase, that Jesus has paid the price for your sins:

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. ¹¹ For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” – Romans 10:9-11 ESV

Without the moon, Earth would spin in 4 hours – and life might not exist
