There is one thing that is universal to successful people. They always have a positive mentality, and a can-do attitude. And they never let doubt and negativity come out of their mouths. They always remain a positive mindset, and to do that they make sure they never speak negatively.
If you say something negative to a successful person, they will be quick to correct you, to force you to take a positive attitude. And if you persist in your negativity, they will separate themselves from you. At one time, I worked for a very successful Insurance Company. Every morning, the first thing we did at the office, was to have a pep meeting. This included cheers, sayings and even the implementation of acronyms, such as PMA (Positive Mental Attitude).
Even the Bible encourages us to have a positive mindset, and to keep a close watch on the things that come out of our mouth. Even more, Jesus gave us a very strong promise concerning the words we speak:
Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. – Mark 11:23 ESV
Notice this doesn’t say what we pray for, it says what we say. Jesus tells us to ‘say’ to the mountain, be taken up and thrown into the sea. And once you start looking, you find a common theme throughout the Bible.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits. – Proverbs 18:21 ESV
“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!” – Psalm 141:3 ESV
“Your words have been hard against me, says the Lord. But you say, ‘How have we spoken against you?’” – Malachi 3:13 ESV
All of these verses are admonitions not to let your words become hostile, negative and hateful. That is because, regardless if you believe in God or not, your spoken words can shape how you see yourself. And if you do not see yourself as successful, you’ll always give up instead of pushing through to victory. If you want to be successful, watch your mouth; keep your words and your mind positive and focused on your goals, and you’re far more likely to succeed.
