The Bible Predicts the Restoration of Iran, Destroying The Islam Government

³⁵ Thus says the LORD of hosts: “Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the mainstay of their might. ³⁶ And I will bring upon Elam the four winds from the four quarters of heaven. And I will scatter them to all those winds, and there shall be no nation to which those driven out of Elam shall not come.

³⁷ I will terrify Elam before their enemies and before those who seek their life. I will bring disaster upon them, my fierce anger, declares the LORD. I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them, ³⁸ and I will set my throne in Elam and destroy their king and officials, declares the LORD.
³⁹ “But in the latter days I will restore the fortunes of Elam, declares the LORD.” – Jeremiah 49:35-39 ESV

This passage in Jeremiah has been referenced a lot lately, but few have realized the extent of Bible prophecy coming to pass right before our eyes. The Bible predicts that in the last days, God will overthrow the government of Elam, and will set up houses for worship there. But first, let’s take a look into the historical context of Elam.

The Historical Roots of Elam

To understand the weight of this prophecy, we must first identify where Elam is today. Ancient Elam was a powerful kingdom located in the western and southwestern region of modern-day Iran, specifically the province of Khuzestan. While many people equate Persia with all of Iran, Elam is actually a distinct biblical entity with its own specific destiny.

Elam’s historical heartland corresponds directly to the modern-day Iranian provinces of Khuzestan and Ilam in the southwestern part of the country. This geographical continuity is vital to understanding its prophetic significance.

While the Elamites were ethnically and linguistically distinct from the later arriving Persians, their civilization was not simply erased. The Achaemenid Persian Empire, which rose after Elam’s decline, absorbed much of Elam’s administrative structures, cultural practices, and even elements of its language and religious ideas. Elamite scribes and systems were integral to the early Persian imperial administration, making Elam a foundational, though distinct, part of Iran’s deep history.

This distinction is crucial when considering prophecies like Jeremiah’s. The Bible often differentiates between the peoples of the Iranian plateau. We see a broader “Persian” identity, encompassing the wider empire, but also a specific focus on “Elam” in the southwest. This “Two Irans” concept within biblical prophecy highlights Elam (modern Khuzestan/Ilam) as a region with a particular destiny and divine attention, separate from yet connected to the larger Iranian narrative. Jeremiah’s prophecy singles out Elam because of this specific historical and geographical entity, which God intends to address directly.

The Predicament Islam Finds Itself In

There is an Islamic concept called Waqf; the belief that once a land is conquered under Muslim rule, it belongs to the Islamic trust in perpetuity. This is a direct conflict with the Bible and the prediction made in Jeremiah. While Muslims recognize the Jewish Bible, their claim is that the Jewish Bible is corrupted, and that was the mission of Muhammad: To restore the original teaching of Allah. If Elam (Iran) is to be a place where God ‘sets His throne’ it implies a spiritual transformation that shifts the country away from Islam and its current religious and political structure.

The tension we see today is more than just geopolitical; it is a clash of two diametrically opposed spiritual claims. While Islamic Law demands that once a land is dominated and governed by Muslims, it is considered a permanent conquest for Allah. To lose a land is seen as a historic shame, that must be rectified through reconquest. This is why the current regime is so desperate to maintain its grip on the region.

God’s Promise to Elam, and the People of Iran

While the Islamic grip has held on to the people of Iran for 47 years, God has promised in the last days to “destroy her king and officials.” We have seen this take place already; Israel has made short work of the leaders and officials of Iran, including the Supreme Leader himself Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Then killing his replacement; then attacking the cabinet meeting to choose yet another leader.

The Bible seems to be fulfilling itself in spite of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In the latest news, Tehran is being completely liberated, as attacks are taking place on the IRGC check points across the city. This is the final stronghold; it seems very soon Tehran will be liberated.
