Widespread Violence: A Sign of Jesus’ Return
This is a time in the history of the world like never before. We live in a time when mass shooting, murder, and rape are simply daily occurrences we hear about in the news. These are getting to the point where we are becoming so accustomed to these things that we barely remember these event weeks later. This is exactly what Jesus told us would happen toward the end of the last days.
I am talking about what Bible scholars refer to as the “Days of Noah”:
As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. 38 For in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah boarded the ark. 39 They didn’t know until the flood came and swept them all away. This is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be. – Matthew 24:37-39 CSB
According to the book of Genesis, there are four main conditions of the society of Noah’s time. Jesus gave us an additional condition in his prophecy for a total of five:
Conditions of Noah’s Time
- Wickedness – The Bible says that in Noah’s day, the earth was filled with wickedness.
- Violence – This is one of the core conditions that God points to as his reason for destroying the earth. The Bible says it broke God’s heart.
- Corruption – This is also one of the core complaints that God gives as a reason for the flood.
- Lawlessness – Although not specifically mentioned in the book of Genesis, none of these three things could occur without a total and complete disregard for any laws in effect during that time.
- Apathy – This is the one condition of Noah’s time that is mentioned by Jesus. A complete and utter disregard for the times in which we live, instead focusing on our own personal wants, needs and desires.
Jesus was very specific about this time: He tells us that when these conditions are happening in the time in which we live, the next event is the Rapture. The verses above are Matthew 24:39, now let’s read verse 40:
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. – Matthew 24:40-41 KJV
This is not meant to frighten anyone. This is simply doing what the Bible wants us to do. Recognize the signs of the times and act accordingly. While Jesus was on this earth, it is surprising to notice that no even one time was his attention focused on the Roman occupiers: But he frequently had confrontations with the Pharisees and Sadducees of the time in which he lived. One of the things he accused the Pharisees of doing is the one thing many Christians do today, and almost all of the secular world does. Ignore the signs of the times.
“When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; and in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.” – Matthew 16:2-3 ESV
These times are here; the times when Jesus spoke about are upon us. Welcome to the end times.
