The Bible’s Stephen and Charlie Kirk’s Life are Identical!

I know that my next installment in this series was supposed to be about your calling in life. However, this morning I had a conversation with a dear friend, and she shared some thoughts that I feel God inspired me to write about. So, we’re not only going to discuss the elephant in the room, but we’re also kicking it to the curb. “How can a loving God allow such bad things to happen?” Let’s find out.

The world is in chaos; some celebrate the death of a beloved leader, others mourn genocide, and some decry terrorism. People commit atrocities against newborns, strangers, and Jews, all fueled by one root cause: intolerance. And yet, so many continue to ask the same questions: How could God allow this to happen.

The Bible openly shares its message with anyone who takes the time to read it. And I can tell you this, every major issue that faces this world today, without fail, is addressed in the Bible. So, let’s say what the Bible says about this:

A careful reading of the Bible is paramount. You should read the Bible as if every single word matters, because it does. Literally.

26 And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. – Genesis 1:26-28 KJV

Notice the word ‘dominion’; it’s not a word we hear much today. Yet that word is paramount in understanding your true place in the world. Simply, dominion means to control or rule over. God is giving up his rule of this earth to Adam, and through succession, every single one of us.

See the word ‘subdue’ in verse 28? God is clearly giving something to Adam in this verse as well. Authority. I’ve written about this before, but it’s worth mentioning again. God created man for one single purpose: Because he wants a family. And if you’re reading this right now, you are created to be a part of that family. You can get rid of your pride and become part of that family right now and I hope you do. But in order to have a real family, people must be able to choose to be part of that family, otherwise, we’re just sophisticated robots.

And what would be the point of giving us free will, then placing us on a planet that doesn’t belong to us? It would be like having a over-bearing, controlling landlord. It would be like God saying, “You may have free will, but unless you do what I say, you can’t live on my earth.” That would be completely opposite of what God wants to accomplish.

3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet. – Psalm 8:3-6 ESV

There’s a clear theme here: God has entrusted mankind with dominion, or authority, over this planet. Many Christians say, “God is in control” (it really gets on my nerves when you say that, by the way), because nothing could be farther from the truth. Other Christians claim the world and its systems belong to Lucifer; but again, No. If you want to know who rules the world, look in the mirror. It’s you, and me, and every single other person on this planet. We’re the ones in control here, and we have no idea how to rule ourselves, and that’s why the world is in such a mess.

God has the power to control a situation only when someone prays. And that must be a prayer in faith. Satan is only given control on this earth when people cede their authority to him. Unlike God, Satan has no moral values, so he’s perfectly willing to lie, trick and steal your authority from you. And this is why I begin every prayer just as Jesus instructed me to “may your will be done on this earth just as it is in heaven”. That is how I give God control over the things that affect me.

God doesn’t cause bad things to happen! He hates it when it does. He wants to take care of us; he wants us to depend on him. But bad things happen when people make bad choices and refuse to heed the word of God. A drunk driver chooses to get into a car and speed down the road, acting out of their own free will and reckless desires. Meanwhile, a family of four gets into a minivan on the same road, without asking for God’s protection on their trip. When a drunk driver crashes into a minivan, causing injuries or deaths, some people still ask, “How could God allow this?” or even say, “God is in control.”

I have heard this said before, but it’s worth retelling. Think of it like this: Imagine you own a large piece of land. For years you worked it yourself; but now, you have decided to let the land lie unused a few years while you give yourself a break. One day, a man comes up to you and offers to lease the field. He makes an offer of a certain amount of money, as well as terms of renewal. Finally, you strike a deal, and he pays you.

A few weeks later, you see him out working in his field. Out of curiosity, you ask him his plans. “I’m planting soybeans in the summer and winter wheat in the winter.” He replies.

“NO!” You exclaim. “I’ve never allowed anything but corn planted in this field.”

To which the man replies, “When this was your field, you could plant whatever you wanted. But as long as that lease stands, the field is now mine.”

That is the agreement God has set forth to man over the earth. Just as God laid out in his plans of Jubilee for the Jews, that was a shadow of the covenant God has with this earth. For a time, it belongs to man. But a day is coming when the lease expires.

It’s not that God stands back and lets bad things happen. But to interfere in a person’s freedom of will is a violation of his covenant to us. God wants us to love him, to worship him, and obey his commands. But only if we choose to do it. But just because he gave us free will, does he absolve us from responsibility? NO. God has given us his word, his will and his purpose. It is up to us to follow his instructions. If we don’t, then we reap the consequences of those actions. God desires that no one should perish but that everyone would have eternal life. Yet, every day, countless souls enter hell.

The Case of Charlie Kirk

As promised, not only are we mentioning the elephant in the room, but we’re kicking it to the curb. Now, there is a phrase I have come to rely on every day: I don’t know. I will freely admit, an entire encyclopedia set could be written on everything I don’t know. I’m no genius by any stretch of the imagination. I’m only going on what I have seen while watching Charlie himself, and my knowledge of the Bible.

Theory number one: Let’s go back to the Bible.

8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and disputed with Stephen. 10 But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking. 11 Then they secretly instigated men who said, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” 12 And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes, and they came upon him and seized him and brought him before the council, – Acts 6:8-12 ESV

Now if there was ever a hero from the Bible, Stephen was it. If you actually read the passage, you know that Steven’s ministry mirrored Charlie Kirk’s to the letter! In fact, Charlie’s whole ministry was built upon one single premise: Prove Me Wrong. As the scripture above attested to, “But they could not withstand the wisdom and Spirit with which he (Stephen) was speaking.” Now the story of Stephen stretches on to the 8th chapter of Acts and while his story deserves to be told, it has little to do with this article. But here’s what you should know about Stephen.

54 Now when they heard these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him. 55 But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” 57 But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together at him. 58 Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. – Acts 7:54-58 ESV

The martyr of Stephen paved the way for Saul, and in case you’ve never heard of Saul, he later became known as the Apostle Paul and wrote the majority of the New Testament. So, let’s begin in the spirit of Charlie, telling it exactly like it is. Every sick lie that could be told about Charlie Kirk that could be told against him has been told. He has been accused of racial slurs, antisemitism, and even calling for the death of homosexuals. Those things are complete lies, and everyone knows they are lies. Charlie Kirk was killed for the exact same reason Stephen was: No one could resist his wisdom and his Spirit. And that, just as it did to Stephen’s enemies, enraged the left because he was not only able to expose their lies and hypocrisy, but they were terrified at his ability to persuade the public. Both Stephen and Charlie Kirk were martyred for that.

Theory number two: This theory is not based on Bible scripture but instead, my own observations. When I was younger, up to my mid-30’s I had this invincibility complex. I thought nothing bad would happen to me. Not only did I think it, but I also genuinely believed it. I was fishing once down at the local river. I heard a shotgun blast and at the same time heard buckshot hit the trees above me. I didn’t duck and grab the ground or go hiding somewhere. I yelled, “Hey! Watch where you’re shooting! I’m fishing over here!” Don’t think that was bravery on my part, it was arrogance. This idea that nothing bad would ever happen to me. Things like that only happened to someone else.

I saw Charlie once on an interview; now that he’s dead, I’ve seen the same interview reposted time and time again. The interviewer asks Charlie how he wanted to be remembered; Charlie responds, “You mean after I’m dead?” It was clear; that thought had never crossed his mind. He was shocked at the thought, he was astonished. It could very well be that Charlie Kirk, like I used to be, never thought anything like that would ever happen to him, therefore he never bothered to pray for divine protection. It is said that Charlie wore a bullet-proof vest. If he did, I would say he wore that to appease others rather than because of his belief he was in danger.

So, I honestly believe that Charlie Kirk’s untimely death was akin to that of Stephen. It wasn’t God’s perfect plan, but God, knowing the reaction it would have, allowed it. In Stephen’s case, his death paved the way for the Apostle Paul to become a famous Apostle, pen the New Testament, and reach billions for Christ over the centuries. That happened due to the death of one man: Stephen.

Charlie’s death has deeply moved millions around the world. For years, people predicted that just before the rapture, millions would seek redemption. I always believed it was just wishful thinking, but here we are in 2025, witnessing how one man’s passing has ignited a global revival on par with the influence of Martin Luther King. While the left continues to sling poison arrows of accusations, and shouts of joy, I would bet there are a lot of Democrats out there that secretly wish that bullet had missed. They had no idea what a huge fire one spark would cause.

Goodbye, Elephant

While I don’t know exactly why God allowed the death of Charlie Kirk, I am satisfied. I don’t question things I don’t need to know. I can tell you this: Any true Christian would consider it an honor to be a martyr, especially if their death meant the saving of millions of souls and the rededication of millions more.

But now, perhaps you’re beginning to get a glimpse into the spiritual world, the real spiritual world. Not this make-believe place that mediums and psychics want us to believe in. The real spiritual world is much deeper than that. Satan has two goals, number one, to destroy as many lives as possible. Every death is a victory; if a Christian dies, that’s one less prayer warrior to contend with. When a lost person dies; that’s one more soul that never gets to become what God wanted them to be: A family member.

The second goal is to prove to God that he is able to create a utopia without God. That’s called Socialism.

If you could see into the spiritual realm, you’d see demons peering out through the eyes of people. On very rare occasions, I have seen those eyes. No, they don’t glow red, or any other color, in fact just the opposite. They are dead; they have no spark, no light of life inside of them. It’s as if the physical person is dead but reanimated. You’d see dark figures lurking in shadows, whispering to people to engage in their secret fantasies; to try the drug they’ve never tried before, to indulge that desire. And why is that? Because Satan has no power on this earth; his power was taken away during the resurrection. Now, his power is exactly was in the garden of Eden. The power of deception, the power of indulgence, and the power of lawlessness.

A Gentle Rebuke

To every pastor, evangelist, and Christian leader—those entrusted with influence—I offer this reminder, one I often speak to myself: “It is better to be silent and thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.” (Mark Twain)

When asked, “Why does a good God allow bad things to happen?”—don’t reach for clichés. If you don’t know, say so. Then seek the answer with humility and prayer.

Shallow responses like “God moves in mysterious ways” may feel safe, but they risk portraying God as erratic or indifferent. That’s not the God of Scripture. We’ve been given the mind of Christ. We can understand his ways—not fully, but faithfully.

The Bible doesn’t ask us to guess. It declares: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive.” It promises: “He will give His angels charge over you.” These are not mysteries—they are truths.

Let’s stop baffling people with borrowed phrases and start anchoring them in the Word. That’s not just good theology—it’s good shepherding.

Why Pray?

The world asks, if everything is already laid out, then why pray? Because prayer gives God the right to act in your life. Again, you have the power of free will; good or bad, God has promised that you and you alone, have the power to determine your life. It’s not that he doesn’t want to, but his oath, his declaration granting us dominion over our lives and this planet, cannot be broken. Consider Daniel’s example:

In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, by descent a Mede, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans— 2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, perceived in the books the number of years that, according to the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.
3 Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. 4 I prayed to the LORD my God and made confession, saying, “O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, ” – Daniel 9:1-4 ESV

Now chapter nine is what I like to call Bible Ice Cream. It’s one of those passages that is just such a delight to read. This chapter of Daniel provides a concise history of the world leading up to the present day and even predicts events of the last days. But today, we’re not talking about Bible prophecy, we are talking about prayer. So let me give you a modern plain language explanation of this short passage. Daniel starts by trying to tell us when that happened. Back then, years weren’t numbered by some immovable event. Instead, times were measured in accordance with the rulers. The first year of Darius meant that it happened in first year of the rule of Darius.

Now Daniel had been reading the book of Jeremiah. And in that book, God had told Jeremiah the current exile to Babylon would last seventy years. Now those seventy years were up, and Daniel was doing something very odd: He is praying that God keep his word! Did Daniel think God wouldn’t keep his word? Absolutely not. Daniel knew what most of us do not. Our prayers give God the permission he needs to make his will happen on earth. Our prayers also allow us to become a part of what God is doing! Every time someone says, “Lord Jesus, come quickly” as Paul did on several occasions, we are ushering in the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our faith, our desire to see the Word of God come to pass is exactly what God uses to bring about his will on earth.

Before I close, let me touch on something that I know is on the mind of most people in the world. How do I protect myself, my children and my family in days like this? So many people I once respected are spreading some of the most harmful and dangerous nonsense. I hope and pray that their voices are silenced before they mislead anyone else. No, you can’t stop a mass shooting coming into your place of business, or school. But you most definitely can protect yourself and your family. The way to do that is by putting faith in the Bible verses that give you protection. For me I have two passages of scripture that as far as I’m concerned, even if the world itself would pass away, these scriptures would stand.

“There shall no evil befall me, neither shall any plague come near my dwelling”. I know this by heart: I have quoted it hundreds, if not thousands of times. (Psalm 91:10 ESV)

“He will give his angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways, they will bear me up in their hands, so I don’t dash my foot on a stone.” (Psalm 91:11-12 ESV) Sometimes I replace me and my, with us and our, to include my family. These work: They have worked in my own family. I have seen miracles with my own eyes over these two verses. And they will work for anyone; there isn’t anything special about me.

Start by finding verses in the Bible you know you can get behind. That little ‘click’ in your spirit when you read a certain verse. That little flash of optimism when you read it, the little ‘leap’ your spirit does is telling you that you have faith in that verse. Start reading it over and studying it. Visualize in your mind how that verse would protect you and protect your family. Meditate on those things, let that scripture take root and grow. Start to confess it over your life out loud. Stop saying things that contradict it and let that verse become the ‘go to’ saying in your life. Instead of saying, I’m scared to do this, and I’m scared to do that, say, “There shall no evil befall me, neither shall any plague come near my dwelling”. Start making that the ‘go to’ saying. Remember, I can tell you how you live your life just by the words you speak! Because out of the abundance of your heart your mouth speaks.

Put that word in your heart until it starts coming out of your mouth. Then the next time Satan attacks you, just let him beat his head on your shield of faith a few times. Then send him packing.
